Graphic content and opportunism

An article making the rounds of social media on Bollywood "sexually objectifying" women which includes a video - troubled me. Human emotions can get scary at times. I felt violated after watching.

  • I have seen my share of (which is small) mid-riff baring Bollywood movies, it's known that it brings out a certain emotion in you. But watching a real incidence where a human (man or a woman) is being roughhoused can also result in extreme emotions. I was grossed out but I see that this can turn a different way for some people. Proof is in the rise in the number of recent attacks after the Delhi event. Showing such footage even for social awareness is harmful. Not showing graphic pictures or videos makes sense. This also reminds me of the decision of US government to not publish Osama's pics after the operation. You don't need the graphic evidence to get a point across.

  • Why is it that a large % of people of India, especially men, are so opportunistic? They will take the wrong paths for momentary pleasures when they feel they are protected by numbers (among  a large group of violators). Where is the thought of being responsible for your own actions? What about treating others the way you want to be treated? What are certain groups not teaching their kids?
